Please meet some of our key staff. All of our staff carry out multiple roles in our company.

Pat Quigley  • President
Born in Esh Winning, of County Durham, England he served a 5 year apprenticeship with Harrison and Harrison. Moved to Canada in 1972 where he joins the organ firm of Gabriel Kney worked for 6 years. In 1979 he and his family moved to Houston Texas where he joined Visser Rowland and Associates and spent 17 years building over 80 plus organs.

In 1993 he ventured off to start his own Supply Company to the Organ Industry. After 2 years under the name Quigley Designs he met with Mark Lively and Paul Fulcher to build a 2 manual organ for Lively-Fulcher Organ Builders. After this first venture they decided to join forces and build a new 10,000 square foot workshop in Rocky Mount Virginia under the now current name of QLF Custom Pipe Organ Components.

Irene Quigley  •  Office Manager
Irene has been married to Pat since 1972 and off and on has been involved with making organ parts both for Visser Rowland and Quigley Designs. In the earlier years of the company she juggled working in the shop and running the office. As the company grew the office became her fulltime job.

Thomas Rohlfs  •  Managing Director, Organ Builder
Originally from Bremen/Germany, Thomas served his apprenticeship with Andreas Andresen Orgelbau in Kiel/Germany from 1978 building small Tracker organs. He became a journeyman in 1982. In the subsequent years he worked for the firm Emil Hammer Orgelbau in Hannover/Germany (as an Assistant Voicer and Tuner) and for the South Island Organ Co. of Timaru/New Zealand.

In 1989 he moved to New Zealand and worked in Timaru up until 1994 when he moved to Wellington to form his own company. In New Zealand he gained expertise in the repair and restoration of many English instruments as well as Tuning and Maintenance Service, regularly looking after nearly 50 instruments throughout the country.

Wanting to return to building new instruments he moved to Canada in 2003 to work for Hellmuth Wolff & Assoc. in Laval/Quebec as a voicer and organbuilder. In 2006 after cutting through a lot of Red Tape he and is wife Tania, a native New Zealander, finally settled here in Virginia to join our company.

As well as being the Managing Director of our company, Thomas puts his many skills to good use around the workshop.

Jeremy Quigley  • Machine Shop, Casework and Finishing
Jeremy has worked with his dad since he was kid helping to sweep the knee-deep shavings in the garage in preparation to glue-up wood pipes. After High School he joined his father in the business of organ building and has over the years become familiar with all facets built here at QLF. He manages the mill, builds and supervises the organ casework, structure and console divisions and is a lead man during installations of case work and complete organs.

Larry Rumsey  •  Electrical Work, Shop Maintenance and Production
Originally from Houston, Texas, Larry has been with QLF almost from the beginning. He spent some time in Houston as a professional TV repair and TV sound systems in commercial buildings. He dabbled with wood working for years and one year while attending a Woodworkers of Houston Club meeting held at Visser Rowland he approach Pat and asked if he decided to make a change in careers could he join the firm. Pat was in the middle of starting Quigley Designs at that time and when QLF was formed. Larry joined QLF in it’s second year he is responsible for all of the maintenance and electrical work around the workshop. He also makes most of the cable harnesses for the consoles and control system for the complete organs we build here at QLF. He also involved in building unit chests and winding systems and is a valuable asset during installations of case work and complete organs.

Dwayne Steele  •  Chest Department and Casework
A West Virginia native, Dwayne worked for a leading window manufacturer MW Windows of Rocky Mount Va. For quite a few years. One day while looking for his dog he stopped by our shop to see if we had seen him, while there he was intrigued with what we were doing and asked if he could work part time, Pat said yes and after a year he wanted to work full time has been with QLF for six years now. Dwayne is now in charge of the wind chest department he also helps with assembly in the erection room and is a valuable asset during installations of case work and complete organs.
